1) Your name
My name is Carlo; though online I sometimes go by Miles.
2) Where you are based?
I live in Metro Manila in the Philippines.
3) What you would like to share about your family and job? I live with my family of 6, I'm the 3rd born. My mother is a doctor and a professor of medicine, and my father is an office worker. I'm still finishing my degrees in Computer Science and Game Development after taking a few years off for mental health reasons. I've been thinking about taking up Philosophy as well, after taking a few classes in Philosophy that changed my outlook in life. 4) Any Pets and info on them.
I have two dogs: Shrek and Fiona. Shrek is a street dog, and he looks like a loaf of bread. He is extremely sweet and cuddly, but very protective of us and his territory. He's actually bitten some people, including a friend of the family. Fiona is the absolute friendliest German Shepherd you'll ever meet. Around Christmas the year we got Fiona, she had run out of the house when we weren't looking. When we realized she had left, the whole family was absolutely frantic trying to find her. Thankfully our dad was able to rally a lot of the local tricycle drivers to find her, eventually finding the tricycle driver who had given a ride to the person who took her.
The next morning she was returned home after finding the person who took her. It turns out she slipped out of the house and just happily followed the first person she saw home. She returned home as if nothing had happened, the happiest dog in the world. I think she genuinely just made a new friend and wasn't lost, so much as on an adventure. We also have a few cats that live around our house. They're not our cats, but they've taken up residence on our home, and we do feed them. We've named them Oscar, Tony, and Emmy.
5) How did you start watching/playing LOL? I started playing League of Legends almost 10 years ago when I saw my little brother playing. Since then I've played on and off for a while, and then about 3 years ago got really into it. I spend a lot of my time playing it now, and enjoy a lot of facets of it. In terms of watching pro League of Legends, I had watched it a few times before, but about three years ago was when I started following the pro scene diligently. It started with the LCS / North America with Team Liquid, then the LEC / Europe with G2 and Rogue, and now I'm a big fan of Cloud9 as well! I've found it hard to follow the Korean & Chinese pro scenes, and I attribute it to being unable to relate to the players due to the language barrier. I tend to follow teams with players I like, and it's naturally easier to connect with players who speak a language that I understand. 6) What LOL community means to you? I actually met a large portion of my current circle of close friends through League of Legends. Especially now during the pandemic, we spend a lot of our time together playing the game. I've made a good deal of friends online, connecting through our shared love of the game, even if I've never actually played with them. The LoL pro scene is also something I look forward to every weekend. I'm always excited to see my teams play, and actively cheer them on in social media. The World Championships are some of the most exciting times for me, and I get to interact with a lot of fans around the world on Twitter and Reddit. I've also become huge fans of some players in particular, such as Xmithie (a Filipino player, like myself), Wunder Jankos & Caps (G2's top, jungle, and mid laners respectively), and of course Perkz. Perkz is by far my favourite player of all time, since I started watching G2. As both a mid laner and a bot laner, I love his skill, leadership, and personality in and out of the game.I loved him on G2, and as much as I would've loved for him to continue with G2, I've followed him to the LCS to support him on Cloud9. Outside of the pro-scene, I also watch a lot of content creators play League of Legends. Some of my favourite streamers would be Shiphtur, Scarra, DisguisedToast, AriaSaki, and Yvonne of OfflineTV. 7) What are your other passions? What do you like doing with your time?
Other than programming and game development, I've taken a great deal of interest in writing. It helps me express myself and immerse myself in worlds and experiences that I myself cannot. Writing has also been great for my mental health, with being able to vent my emotions but also creating something to be proud of. With writing, I really like romance, particularly queer romance. Along with being able to express my experiences as a gay person in romance works, I also want to add to the small but growing collection of queer literature, particularly here in the Philippines.
I otherwise also play a lot of video games. League of Legends is an obvious one, and is probably the game I play the most. Other than that, I enjoy creative games like The Sims, relaxing games like Stardew Valley, party games like Mario Kart, music & rhythm games like Rhythm Heaven, and RPGs like Persona. I took up Computer Science, then Game Development, because Video Games have always been a big part of my life. They are a source of entertainment, expression, and social connection for me, and continue to be my biggest hobby to this day. With writing, programming, and maybe philosophy, I hope to create games and stories much like the ones I enjoy. Whether they're entertaining, thought provoking, or just touch someone's heart, I hope whatever I put out into the world will be meaningful and bring more light to the world. Hope this helps your blog out! Have a great day and rest of the week! #C9WIN
