What is your name?
My name is Robin.
In game I go by TheRealMcCoy. I am a trans woman and my pronouns are she/her.
Where are you based?
I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but I currently live in Colorado.
What would you like to share about your family and job?
I am a graduate student and I am studying political science with specific focus on public administration, American government, and environmental policy. My goal is to eventually finish my PhD and become a professor. Failing that I would love to either find a job doing research into how people interact with the government or find a job within games and esports helping more people (and a more diverse group of them) to get into the gaming.
Do you have any pets?
Unfortunately I do not currently own any pets
How did you start watching/playing LOL?
I started playing league in undergrad when some friends convinced me to start playing with them. Several of us played almost non-stop one summer because in the hot and humid Georgia summer weather was not a great idea. That's what got me hooked. I started watching le
ague esports shortly after that during the 2016 World Championship. I initially followed C9 because they had so many likable players. After they had a solid run that year I just stuck to being a C9 fan from then on out.
What does the LOL commuity mean to you?
The LoL community (and the esports community as whole) has been a great place in my experience. Not only has league allowed me to stay in contact with the friends that initially introduced me to the game way back when, but it has allowed me to meet some really cool people that I wouldn't have met otherwise. It is amazing to me that one free to play game can connect people from a
ll over the world. Whether sharing memes, having discussions on Twitter or Reddit, or spamming Twitch chat emotes, this community allows for people to share a form of common language and to connect in ways that would otherwise be highly unlikely.
What are your other passions and interests?
7. I love to play video games of course! Outside of league I am a big fan of narrative based games. I love the unique stories that can be told using video games as a medium. I am a big fan of "traditional" sports. I played baseball growing up until I graduated high school and I still love watching games when I can. I have grown to appreciate soccer much more in recent years thanks to Atlanta's soccer team, Atlanta United, which has had an exciting existence so far. I also love movies and can't wait for theatres to get back up and running the way they were before the pandemic.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with me Robin, hopefully you have been able to get out and about to the movies since you wrote this! Lots of Love LeicesterLadyPerkz xxx
