Spotlight on Isaac: un héroe español

Writer's picture: leicesterladyperkzleicesterladyperkz

What is your name and can you tell me a little bit about yourself? My name would be Isaac of course and I live in the Basque Country, Spain, famous for its great food if i say so myself :3

What about family & your job?

About family and job, I have a mom I live with, a sister who I love, she is very kind but quite serious, same as me tbh. My mom has gone through many struggles, a bad breakup with my dad, a really abusive relationship with another man later on that ended up with me and my mom hospitalized and she has since gone through a lot of mental struggles as well, thankfully she is recovering well now. I also suffered in the abusive relationship, including being stabbed and will need to keep taking medication for the foreseeable future as one of the stabs received came close to severing one of the arteries near my heart, thankfully it only grazed it so I have been able to recover for the most part.

On the matter of jobs, I am currently seeking work. I did my work experience in a factory in Plymouth called Hymec Precision Engineering thanks to my good grades some 11 years ago. After that its not been as great, a couple jobs on small stores and not much else....

Why did you star playing/watching LOL?

I started playing a bit before the old EU LCS started I can't recall the exact date but it would be around season 1 or 2 I think, I liked the game mainly because I had a small group of friends to play it with and it made it so much fun! It helped me cope with the issues at home for sure.

Watching came pretty much at the same time, I've always looked at the pro scene as the pinnacle of play, granted I've always mainly watched EU and Korea looking for inspiration and great plays, trying to find little edges somewhere to improve myself. Not forgetting about NA LCS I watched it for the drama and spectacle in the older days, the rivalries back then felt more dramatic after all.

What does the LOL community mean for you?

The LoL community is a mixed bag overall for me, I never truly gave it a a chance since the very beginning, the disrespect shown in game to people not speaking English has always been there, and while I might not have an issue with it personally I almost always played with more people and it was somewhat infuriating watching them get insulted over something so trivial. I cant say it has changed much since, I'm on the older side of it though, I am 30 now and I probably don't look at things the same way a 16 or 19 year old person does, but yeah I wish people like MonteCristo or Thooorin could be more involved in the scene.

League of legends, as many other games, has helped me retain some semblance of fun, of enjoyment, in a decade where my life was ruined by family issues. I would say I retain my sanity in a good part thanks to them.

What about your other interests?

Other than video games I also paint and collect Warhammer 40k miniatures and then play with my friends from time to time. I love science, astronomy and space related stuff is what I like the most and I love reading articles, listen to interviews and a lot of related media.

I do think I have mild political opinions, left leaning, I wouldn't consider them to be a passion of mine but i am interested.

And I cannot forget and will not forget to mention that I love spending time with my girlfriend even if it is via internet. For now we have a long distance relationship, but we plan on moving together as soon as the opportunity appears.

Thank you so much Isaac for sharing with us your story, it must have been very difficult for you. Although your relationship with the community is not always comfortable I am glad that you have managed to find support there when you needed it. I hope that you and your girlfriend manage to move in together soon and life continues to be on the up!

Lots of Love, Leicester Lady Perkz.
