What is your name?
Mike “iiQuantumRanger” Anderson
What you would like to share about your family and job?
My wife, Samantha and I have been married for 5 years and we have 2 kids, Link (3) and Libby (1). I’m a pastor, property manager, and graphic designer and my wife is an artist and teacher with a growing art community on YouTube and Facebook! She’s actually a bigger streamer than I am 🤣
How you started watching/playing LOL?
I’m actually pretty new to PC games as I grew up with only hand-me-down consoles. After I finished my masters degree I was staying up super late with Link when he was a newborn and I was looking for a new game to play. I started playing LoL in season 8 and immediately started watching pro leagues. As a lifelong Laker fan I was drawn to Echo Fox as I was already a Rick Fox fan and I drawn to C9 because they are the best memers. When EF disbanded (RIP) I became a full fledged C9 fan, especially after we defeated Korea in 2018. As a player, I’m basically a Nunu & Willump one trick. I work on other champs and positions but I always seem to come back to Nunu & Willump.
What does the LOL community mean to you?
A few things come to mind. 1) it fuels my fire for competition. I love playing and watching just like I did playing sports through college. 2) It’s funny and I still get stoked when orgs/owners/player retweet or when memes happen. 3) It keeps me connected to my friends and extended family. It being a free game during COVID has given us something to bond over.
4) Lastly, I really enjoy watching with my kids. Both my kids will watch games with me
Link particularly gets stoked when Renekton or Cho’Gath get played because he’s going through a dinosaur/dragon phase. I can’t wait until I can take him to go watch games live someday
What are your other passions? What do you like doing with your time?
I’m a dad and gamer, do I have free time? Actually, some things that I enjoy doing are playing guitar, reading, cooking, and skateboarding. I also like building things. I built the bunk bed for my kids with monkey bars and rock wall.
Another thing that I am passionate about is disability rights and advocacy. My daughter was born with Achondroplasia, commonly known as dwarfism. Her disability has caused me to look at the world differently and I’ve really been challenged to not only help her, but to also help others. I am in the process of creating a non-profit organization that helps existing community service organizations meet the physical needs of the disabled folks in their community. The vision is to help connect other non-profits with the means to retrofit their buildings to also serve folks with physical disabilities. The other wing of my non-profit is advocacy for the physically disabled in their every day lives, gaming included.
Between my family, my work, LoL, and developing this non-profit my days are spent! Do you have any Pets?
Along with my children, we have a bunny named Penny. We live in an apartment and someday we hope to be in a house and get more pets!
I think we can all agree that Mike has been blessed with a beautiful family. Thank you for your time writing to me Mike and thank you for your time reading this LOL fans.
